Men’s EuroHockey Indoor Club Cup (Sant Cugat, Spain)
Royal Léopold will face Harvestehuder THC (19.15 CET) while Junior FC take on AH&BC Amsterdam (20.45 CET) in the men’s Indoor Club Cup semi-final in Sant Cugat as all four got the wins they needed on Saturday morning to advance.
AH&BC Amsterdam eased into the final four as they defeated HC Olten 15-0 in their third group game, bouncing back from their Friday loss to Royal Léopold.
Sam Steins-Bisschop and Boris Burkhardt scored four times each as the Dutch side netted 12 times in the second half.
Royal Léopold then rubber-stamped their place in the semi-finals when they defeated TJ Plzen-Litice 8-4. The Czechs needed a big win to have a shot at the semis and they gave it a good rattle in the first half with Lukáš Benda scoring twice but Léo soon began to exert their force.
Philippe Simar scored three while Igor Lockwood got a beautiful backhand finish to put them in front and they did not look back.
In Pool B, Harvestehuder THC made it through to the final four for the eighth time as they defeated Old Georgians 5-1, overcoming a resolute performance from the English side.
OGs did take an early lead from Alan Forsyth’s corner and were level at 1-1 at half-time but the German control and accuracy eventually took its toll.
Niklas Reuter and Killian Pöhling put HTHC in front in Q3 before set piece goals from Fülöp Losonci and Vincent Scholz confirmed their passage to the final four.
For Junior, they needed to avoid a heavy defeat against HK Zelina but, in the end, they put in another confident performance against a dangerous opponent.
Oriol Serrahima gave them a half-time lead which was extended by Ferran Muñoz and Nicolau Mustarós to run up a 4-0 victory.
