Men’s EuroHockey Club Trophy II (Lousada, Portugal) – day three round-up
Hosts AD Lousada will meet WKS Grunwald Poznan for gold at the men’s EuroHockey Club Challenge II in Portugal following the completion of the group stages – they have both secured promotion for their nation for 2026 into the bargain.
For Lousada, they had a nervous wait on their rest day but ended up just out of range of the chasing Slagelse. Grunwald, meanwhile, produced a strong second half performance to beat HK Zelina and top Pool B.
Pool A
Slagelse (DEN) – GD do Viso (POR) 9-1
Set a target of winning by more than 11 to overhaul AD Lousada in the group, Slagelse burst out of the blocks with three goals in the first quarter, Markus Hansen scoring either side of a Frederik Trebbien goal.
And the unlikely result looked to have real potential when Kian Rokni added two more in the 18th and 19th minutes for a 5-0 advantage. But Viso rallied to nick one back via Tiago Marques and they slowed up the scoring significantly until the 44th minute when Nikolaj Moll made it 6-1.
Three more followed in Q4 but they ended up three short on goal difference in the final standings, meaning they will have to content themselves with a bronze medal match.

Pool B
Rotweiss Wettingen (SUI) – HC Bra (ITA) 4-4
Yet another thrill-a-minute encounter saw HC Bra and Rotweiss Wettingen share the laurels, a result which – in the end – did not overly suit their respective ambitions.
In a whirlwind start, Priyesh Bhana netted his fifth goal of the weekend in the third minute which was quickly followed by two from his team mate Andrea Bertorello with one coming back from Wettingen’s Michel Morard.
Morard would go on to score all four of his side’s goals, two of them coming in Q2 to tie the game at half-time. Bra went back in front through Simone Raimo but Morard’s fourth corner on the Q3 hooter meant it was two points each.
HK Zelina (CRO) – WKS Grunwald Poznan (POL) 0-3
A trio of second half goals propelled WKS Grunwald Poznan to top spot in Pool B and into Monday’s final, sending HK Zelina into the fifth place playoff game.
After a scoreless first half, the 2000 Olympian Artur Mikula showed his super eye for goal as he started the scoring in the 33rd minute. Pawel Bratkowski netted his fourth corner of the weekend for 2-0 and Michal Lange confirmed the win with 12 minutes to go.
The result lifted them above HC Bra who have to be content with a bronze medal match.
