Ukraine, Italy and Poland have all confirmed their place in the women’s EuroHockey 5s Championship semi-finals in Walcz with Sweden and Wales battling it out on Friday to join them.
Ukraine topped Pool B with a strong win over Türkiye and then a battling 3-2 success over Lithuania, fighting back from 2-1 down with second half goals from Anna Tanchenko and Anastasiia Shyshyna.
Italy recorded their first international 5s wins to jump into second spot, crucially beating Türkiye 7-5 with two late goals from Maria Inaudi.
In Pool A, Poland confirmed their passage through to the last four with a 6-1 win over Poland and a 13-3 victory against Wales.
The big game on Friday morning is at 11.40am (CET) when Sweden and Wales meet with second spot in the group on the line. Both are on six points with +20 goal difference.
Both came unstuck against Poland but wins over Luxembourg and Finland see them in contention.
There was also an historic moment for Luxembourg as they won their first international match with a 6-1 win over Finland in their third group game.
