EuroHockey U18 Championship II-B (Swansea, Wales)
Poland won the girls EuroHockey U18 Championship II-B in style in Swansea as Hanna Wochna’s hat trick, assisted three times by Julia Rymer, saw them win the title in style.
They won 4-0 against Türkiye to complete their series of matches unbeaten, picking up 10 points out of 12 to put them clear of Wales despite their one outstanding fixture.
“We are very proud of ourselves and now get to play in the first division in two years. We did everything our coaches told us to do!” said Poland’s Hanna Bidzińska, knowing promotion is secure for 2025.
In this tie, they went 1-0 up from a clever corner, Maria Drozda squaring the ball to Jagoda Arciszewska who fired the ball back into the middle where Oliwia Krychniak got the final touch.
And just before half-time Julia Rymer went on a surging run through the centre of the Türkiye defence before slapping the ball to Wochna on the left post.
The same combination provided the third goal in Q3 with Rymer stealing possession and winning a stroke which Wochna stepped forward to score
And, once more with four minutes left, Rymer intercepted a loose ball out of defence and she simply squared to Wochna to push into an open goal.
The tournament concludes on Friday with Wales – confirmed in second place – facing Türkiye who will end in third.
