The Kaltun Madran Su Aegean Stars won the Turkish women’s indoor Super League on Monday with a dramatic shoot-out win over Gaziantep Polisgücü.

In the final, the Police Force side led three times with Yeterli Çelik opening the scoring in the third minute while Fatma Songül Gültekin put them 2-1 and 3-2 ahead. Gültekin won the top goal scorer award for the season with an incredible 77 to her name.

But each time the Aegean Stars fought back with Sudenur Kurt getting two of the equalisers, crucially making it 3-3 with six minutes to go. And they went on to win the shoot-out 3-2 to claim the title.

Gaziantep had topped the initial league table with 14 wins out of 16 outings with the Aegean Stars in second place, five points behind them.

Ganziantep duly advanced to the final last Sunday with a 4-2 win over Alanya Stars while the Aegean Stars edged out Kirikkale GSIM 3-2.

On the men’s side, Müslüm Elagöz’s 37th minute winner for Gaziantep Polisgücü saw them win a 5-4 thriller to win their Super League final against Selçuklu Belediyespor.

It completed a hat trick for Elagöz who was also named player of the tournament for his efforts. His side initially trailed 2-0 before he replied with a double to lead 3-2 early in the second half.

After that, the two sides traded goals until Elagöz scored a vital corner in the closing minutes for the victory.

It completed an unbeaten season for the Police Force team, winning 16 and drawing two of their 18 regular league games and then defeating Nizip Zeugma SK 6-2 in the semi-final last Sunday.
